Graham Steed was the church organist at 1st Baptist Church in Truro, Nova Scotia, when Bill and Lorraine and family lived there in the 1970s and early 1980s. He and his wife Rita were good friends, and Bill sang tenor in the church choir that Graham directed. Click here for YouTube clip of Graham Steed playing "Evocation III" by the French composer-organist Marcel Dupré, about whose work Mr. Steed was considered an authority.
I knew Graham Steed when he was organist of All Saints' church, Leamington Spa, England and deputised for him occasionally.
ReplyDeleteGraham was a music graduate of Durham University.
This music school has appeared a number of times on www.nzorgan.com - most recently at http://www.nzorgan.com/vandr/durham-degrees.htm
A follow up page is planned on eminent Durham graduates ,especially those who settled overseas.
Do you have a picture of Graham that I would be allowed to reproduce on the nz site?
Whether or no - may I wish you, belatedly, a very happy Anniversary?
Thank you
